Job summary

Winbro is seeking an Applications Engineer at our Shepshed manufacturing facility. You will provide technical expertise to develop and deliver Laser and EDM processes for defined customer requirements and R&D developments, taking applications through the full development cycle from in-house development to customer proof‑out and training.

The role requires a PhD in Engineering/Physics/Laser, at least 5 years in Applications Engineering or R&D, and hands-on experience with laser machining and NC

Qualifications

• PhD in an Engineering, Physics or Laser discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Applications Engineering, R&D.
• Experience in laser machining.
• Experience with NC programming and post processors for multi axis machine tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop NC programming capabilities to enable process delivery for new and existing Winbro multi-axis machine tools.
• Design and develop new and existing laser and EDM processes.
• Work within the Winbro technology centre, laser lab, and customer sites to deliver cutting edge processes.
• Collaborate with suppliers to develop and adopt new technology into Winbro applications.
• Provide input to the machine tool design team as the customer of their products.
• Offer technical support to customers remotely and on site.
• Understand customer requirements and deliver on timelines.
• Turnkey development and other applications engineering activities.
• Maintain a high standard of delivery across the team.
• Travel internationally up to 50% when fully trained.
