Job summary

Mars is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer to join the Didcot lab team. You will develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work on advanced laser systems spanning UV to IR, with femtosecond to nanosecond pulses.

The role requires a degree in lasers/optical engineering/physics/engineering, practical laser applications experience, and strong IT skills; industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience.
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous.
• Knowledge of laser micro-machining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, optical systems.
• Strong IT skills with industrial experience preferred.

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers and run production work.
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems across UV to IR with femtosecond to ns pulses.
• Support integration, testing and optimization of laser systems.
