Job summary

Mars is recruiting a Laser Applications Engineer to join the Didcot laboratory team. The role focuses on developing laser micromachining processes for customers and performing production work on state-of-the-art laser systems with UV to IR wavelengths.

The candidate will work with femtosecond to nanosecond pulses and advanced motion control, requiring hands-on technical excellence and a strong experimental background.

Qualifications

• Good degree or MSc in Lasers or Optical Engineering or Physics or Engineering or similar qualification plus practical experience.
• Practical laser applications, especially micromachining is advantageous.
• Knowledge of laser micromachining and integration/test of complex laser systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers.
• Run production work on state-of-the-art laser systems.
• Work with femtosecond to nanosecond pulse durations and advanced motion control systems.
• Hands-on testing and integration of laser systems.
