Job summary

Mars in Didcot is seeking a Laser Applications Engineer. Open to graduates in Lasers, Optical Engineering, Physics, or Engineering with two+ years of industry experience and a passion for laser technology.

You will join a high-performing laboratory team, develop laser micromachining processes for customers, and operate advanced laser systems from UV to IR with femtosecond to ns pulses.

Qualifications

• Degree or MSc in Lasers/Optical Engineering/Physics/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with laser micromachining is advantageous.
• Knowledge of laser micro-machining, integration and test of complex laser systems, machine control software or programming, materials science, metrology, microscopes/SEM, and optical systems.
• Good computer and IT skills.
• Industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop laser micromachining processes for customers.
• Run production work for customers.
• Work with state-of-the-art laser systems spanning UV to IR and femtosecond to nanosecond pulse durations.
