Full-time: 35 hours per week

Open-ended (permanent) contract

The Opportunity:

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies has an opening for the Laboratory Teaching Technician Supervisor position.The role holder will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the teaching technician team ensuring the provision of detailed, specialist instruction to support student learning using a range of laboratory apparatus and other specialist equipment, in the laboratory, during laboratory based practical classes and examinations, and other teaching activities.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), and the role holder will be based on the Easter Bush Campus.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) relevant to the School’s scientific activities and experience in relevant technical and scientific work, or equivalent.
  • Management and/or supervisory experience within a scientific higher education setting.
  • Specialist knowledge in microbiology and wide-ranging knowledge of biology that is constantly being updated.
  • Proficient in laboratory skills such as aseptic technique, making solutions/reagents/ chemicals.
  • Experience demonstrating scientific methods and techniques in a higher education setting.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
