NHS Orkney is seeking a Laboratory IT Lead based at The Balfour to manage the Laboratory Information Management System and related applications, ensuring safe, reliable operation to support high-quality diagnostic services.

You will lead system optimizations, collaborate with suppliers, NHS Orkney IT, and informatics groups, and develop SOPs while ensuring governance and data protection compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biomedical Science, IT or related discipline.
• Significant experience with laboratory information systems.
• Experience with SQL and database administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and laboratory applications.
• Lead IT system integrations and continuous improvement across the lab.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for information systems.
