Client/Child:

Ivy is a 13-year-old girl who lives at home with her Mum and Dad. She is an engaging and active young lady who enjoys riding her bike, sensory play, and spending time with her friends. Ivy has cerebral palsy and epilepsy; she depends on 2:1 support to meet all her needs. She is exploring different communication aids to support her non-verbal communication. Ivy uses a wheelchair and follows the ethos of Conductive Education. Her home is fully adapted to meet all her needs, including ceiling track hoists and equipment such as a walker. Ivy is supported by a team of carers providing daily assistance, and now requires a SEN / SEND Nanny to join her team. This role involves supporting Ivy, her team, and her parents in a more dynamic capacity.

Overview of the role:

The SEN / SEND Nanny will act as a liaison between Ivy’s parents, school, care team, MDT, and other professionals to ensure Ivy is thriving and receiving the highest standard of care and support. Responsibilities include providing practical support to Ivy, assisting her with ADLs, therapy, social activities, medical needs, and supporting her in school. The role also involves household tasks such as light chores, running errands, and shopping, enabling Ivy’s Mum to return to work. You will manage Ivy’s diary, appointments, and coordinate with her care and case management team. This role is comprehensive and evolving; Ivy needs an advocate who can unify all aspects of her care.

Who this job would suit:

A highly organized, resilient, and confident SEN / SEND Nanny with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a strong, robust person who is also fun, bubbly, caring, and kind. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as each day may bring different tasks, and you must be able to step up and handle each one effectively.

What’s great about this job:

Supporting Ivy is incredibly rewarding. She is an amazing young person full of determination and potential. The role offers ongoing support, excellent training, and opportunities to acquire new skills. No two days are the same, and while the role can be challenging, it is also highly fulfilling.
