Job summary

Just Teachers Ltd. is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Birmingham for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS3 students from September 2026.

You will work alongside experienced staff to provide personalised support for pupils with complex learning and additional needs, helping them access the curriculum and grow independence in a nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker.
  • Understanding of SEN, including autism and SEMH.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.
  • Training in SEN or behaviour support would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within KS3 classrooms.

  • Assist students with academic tasks, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.

About the role:

justteachers are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Birmingham for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support KS3 students from September 2026. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced teaching staff to provide personalised support for pupils with a range of complex learning and additional needs

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teaching and learning within KS3 classrooms.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff.
  • Promote student wellbeing, independence, and confidence.
Pre-requisites:
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or SEN Support Worker.
  • Understanding of SEN, including autism spectrum conditions and SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant training in SEN, Team Teach, or behaviour support would be advantageous.
