Job summary

Step Teachers is supporting Great Hockham Primary School and Nursery in recruiting a KS2 Teaching Assistant & Lunchtime Supervisor. You will assist pupils in lessons, support behaviour and wellbeing, and supervise lunchtime play, working closely with teachers and support staff.

The role is temporary until the October half-term, starting September 2026, with a focus on safeguarding and fostering an inclusive, nurturing environment for children aged 3–11.

Qualifications

  • Experience with primary-aged children is essential.
  • Teaching Assistant experience is desirable.
  • Patient, caring and enthusiastic approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and children's welfare.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom organisation.
  • Support pupils' academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
  • Supervise pupils during lunchtime and promote safe play.

KS2 Teaching Assistant & Lunchtime Supervisor – Primary School, temporary until the October half-term, starting September 2026

Duties as KS2 Teaching Assistant:
  • Supporting pupils in the classroom on a one-to-one and small-group basis
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery and classroom organisation
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Supervising pupils during lunchtime and promoting safe, positive play
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and support staff
Ideal KS2 Teaching Assistant:
  • Previous experience working with primary-aged children
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable
  • A patient, caring, and enthusiastic approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
