Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. in St Albans, Hertfordshire, is seeking an experienced Year 1 teacher (KS1) for an immediate start on a long-term temporary basis through to the end of the academic year.

The successful candidate will lead a small Year 1 class with two TAs, support pupils with SEN, and have strong behaviour management, phonics knowledge, and the ability to differentiate for varying abilities. Immediate paid trial days offered with potential for permanent appointment.

Qualifications

• QTS with recent Year 1 / KS1 teaching experience.
• Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is essential.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Confident differentiating and adapting teaching for additional needs.
• Good knowledge of the Year 1 curriculum and phonics.
• A nurturing, patient and inclusive approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Someone available to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, working with two supportive TAs to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons.
• Maintain a calm, purposeful classroom where every child can progress.
• Establish positive relationships and high expectations from day one.
• Differentiate and adapt teaching to meet a range of abilities, including SEN needs.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide timely feedback to support growth.
• Collaborate with TAs and leadership to ensure consistent routines.
