Job summary

South Hill School in Hemel Hempstead is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our KS1 team. You will support learning under the class teacher and work with small groups, including teaching phonics to a group of children.

A calm, nurturing, and resilient approach is required, with prior similar-role experience desirable. This is a temporary appointment, 5 days per week, 8.40 am to 3.15 pm, from November 2026 to July 2027, term-time only (27 hours 55 mins per week).

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4-9 (A*-C) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support children's learning under the guidance of the class teacher.
• Work with small groups to reinforce learning.
• Teach phonics to a group of children.
• Maintain a calm, nurturing and resilient classroom presence.
