Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. in Blackburn is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 in a mainstream primary school. The role is full-time for the academic year, with emphasis on phonics, early literacy and targeted interventions.

You will work closely with teachers, deliver phonics sessions, monitor progress, support pupils with SEND, and help create a warm, inclusive learning environment across the year.

Qualifications

• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting KS1 pupils.
• Knowledge of phonics and early reading development.
• Ability to deliver interventions and monitor progress.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide general classroom support within a KS1 setting.
• Assist the class teacher with the delivery of engaging learning activities.
• Deliver phonics interventions and support early literacy development.
• Conduct phonics assessments and monitor pupil progress.
• Deliver reading and writing intervention programmes to individuals or small groups.
• Support pupils with SEND to access learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
• Assist with classroom preparation, resources and assessment activities.
