Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Halewood is seeking a KS1 Teaching Assistant to support learning from January 2026. You will assist class teachers inside and outside the classroom, helping pupils access learning opportunities and build confidence.

The role is full-time, term-time only, temporary with hourly pay of £14.25–£15.00 depending on experience. The successful candidate will join a caring, supportive school community focused on pupil wellbeing and achievement.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a primary school (KS1) is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Caring, proactive and adaptable approach to learning support.
  • Genuine passion for education and child development; relevant qualifications or willingness to train.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging KS1 lessons across the curriculum.
  • Work with small groups and individuals to reinforce learning.
  • Provide targeted intervention where required.
  • Encourage participation, independence and positive behaviour.
  • Assist in preparing classroom resources and activities.
  • Support children with diverse learning needs to ensure inclusion.
  • Help maintain a safe, stimulating classroom environment.

KS1 Teaching Assistant

Start Date: January 2026

Hours: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Contract Type: Temporary

Pay Rate: £14.25 - £15.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Role

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide high-quality assistance both inside and outside the classroom. Your role will be key in helping pupils access learning opportunities and build confidence in their abilities.

Key responsibilities include:
