Job summary

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a welcoming infant school in Southport to appoint a qualified or experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Reception class from November 2026.

Working alongside the Reception class teacher, you will support children's learning, development and wellbeing, with responsibilities including assisting early literacy and numeracy, preparing resources, and creating an inclusive classroom.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or significant experience in a primary school.
  • Experience in Early Years Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Genuine passion for helping young children reach their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Support high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school day.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social development through play-based learning.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.
  • Create an engaging, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Prepare learning resources and contribute to classroom activities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents to support progress.

Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and highly regarded infant school in Southport, seeking to appoint a qualified or experienced Teaching Assistant to support within a Reception class from November 2026.

Working alongside the Reception class teacher, you'll play an integral role in supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing during one of the most important stages of their education.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting high-quality teaching and learning throughout the school day.
  • Working with individual pupils and small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Encouraging children's independence, confidence and social development through play-based learning.
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs where required.
  • Helping to create an engaging, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Preparing learning resources and contributing to exciting classroom activities.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents to support every child's progress.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or significant experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
  • Experience supporting children within the Early Years Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1.
  • A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated school team.
  • A genuine passion for helping young children achieve their full potential.

Experience supporting pupils with SEND is advantageous but not essential.
