Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a KS1 Teacher for a West Drayton primary school, starting January 2027. This full-time, long-term maternity cover role offers the opportunity to contribute to a supportive school community for the remainder of the academic year and potentially beyond.

The ideal candidate will hold QTS, have recent KS1 experience in a UK primary setting, and be confident with phonics, early reading, and effective classroom management to maintain high standards of pupil progress.

Qualifications

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Has recent experience teaching in a UK primary school, ideally within KS1.
• Has a good understanding of the Year 1 and Year 2 curriculum.
• Is confident delivering phonics and early reading sessions.
• Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management.
• Can plan effectively and adapt teaching to support all learners.
• Is reliable, organised and committed to maintaining continuity of learning throughout the maternity cover.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the KS1 curriculum.
• Develop pupils' reading, writing, phonics and mathematical skills.
• Use assessment to monitor progress and identify areas for further support.
• Adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with different abilities and learning styles.
• Establish clear classroom routines and maintain positive behaviour.
• Create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and other year group colleagues.

Full-time Long-term Maternity Cover Outer London Pay Scale

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and established primary school in West Drayton seeking a dedicated KS1 Teacher to join their team from January 2027. This is a full-time, long-term maternity cover position, offering the opportunity to become part of a supportive school community for the remainder of the academic year and potentially beyond.

The school is looking for a confident and engaging teacher who can deliver high-quality lessons, build positive relationships with pupils and create a classroom environment where children feel encouraged to learn, develop and achieve.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with experience across Key Stage 1 who enjoys working with younger pupils and understands the importance of developing strong foundations in literacy, mathematics and learning behaviours.

The Role

As the KS1 Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced curriculum, ensuring pupils remain engaged and make good progress throughout the placement.
