Job summary

Distinction Education Ltd is recruiting a KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 autism support at an excellent primary school in Worcester. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, with a daily rate of £95–£110.

You will support a Year 1 pupil, helping access activities, use targeted communication strategies, and work closely with the class teacher and SENCo. A calm, patient approach and safeguarding checks are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting autistic children or SEND in KS1 settings.
• Calm, patient approach with good communication.
• Ability to follow support plans and safeguarding requirements.

This Learning Support Assistant role will suit someone who takes time to understand a child’s individual strengths, communication preferences and support needs.

The role

• Provide consistent 1:1 support during lessons and school routines.
• Help the child access activities and participate alongside their peers.
• Use agreed strategies to support communication, transitions and emotional regulation.
• Adapt resources and activities under the class teacher’s guidance.
• Encourage confidence and independence.
• Work closely with the teacher and SENCo, sharing observations and following support plans.

About you

You will bring a calm, patient approach and experience supporting autistic children or children with SEND. Experience in Reception, Year 1 or another KS1 setting would be particularly relevant. We are looking for someone who recognises that effective support is individual, responsive and built on positive relationships.
