Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant for a Dewsbury primary school. The role is full-time and long-term from September, with potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You will work across KS1, delivering targeted phonics support and helping pupils develop reading, decoding and communication skills. The successful applicant will have experience supporting phonics in a primary setting, KS1 experience, and a patient, engaging approach to learning.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting phonics within a primary school setting.
• Experience working with children across Key Stage 1 / KS1.
• Strong understanding of phonics and early reading.
• Ability to provide engaging individual and small group support.
• A patient and positive approach to supporting children's learning.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted phonics support across KS1 to help pupils develop reading and decoding skills.
• Contribute to improving early reading and communication abilities through dedicated small-group work.
