Job summary

TeacherActive is partnering with a mainstream Primary School in Dewsbury to appoint a Primary Teaching Assistant, supporting pupils across KS1 with phonics and early reading. The role runs long-term from September, working with the class teacher to foster learning and a positive classroom atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will have a TA qualification or equivalent, experience in a primary setting, and strong communication skills to build relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience working with children within a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 1 / KS1.
• Strong knowledge and experience of phonics and early reading.
• A positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the class teacher to support pupils with their learning.
• Deliver phonics activities to KS1 pupils.
• Help create a positive and engaging classroom environment.
