Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a friendly primary school in Dewsbury to recruit a Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term role starting September. You will support pupils across Key Stage 1 with phonics, reading and early decoding, in small group and 1:1 settings.

The ideal candidate has KS1 phonics experience, a patient, engaging approach and strong teamwork. In return you will join a supportive team, access CPD opportunities and competitive daily pay rates up to £110.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering phonics support to children across KS1.
• Strong understanding of phonics and early reading.
• Ability to provide engaging individual and small group support.
• Patient and positive approach to supporting children's learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted phonics support and help pupils develop their reading, decoding and communication skills.
• Work across Key Stage 1 with small groups and 1:1 sessions.
• Collaborate with teachers to track progress and adapt activities.
• Maintain a supportive, safe learning environment.

The school is looking to take on a Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant on a full-time, long-term basis from September, with the potential to become permanent for the right Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant. The successful applicant will work across Key Stage 1 / KS1, providing targeted phonics support and helping pupils develop their reading, decoding and communication skills.

The successful Phonics Specialist Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting phonics within a primary school setting
• Experience working with children across Key Stage 1 / KS1
• A strong understanding of phonics and early reading
• The ability to provide engaging individual and small group support
• A patient and positive approach to supporting children's learning
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
