Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated KS1 EAL Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in BS3, Bristol, from October 2026. You will support pupils developing English language skills and deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions.

You will work closely with teachers to adapt activities, model language, and foster an inclusive environment where every child feels valued. Experience with primary-aged children and a passion for helping EAL learners succeed are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary-aged children.
• Understanding of EAL learners in KS1.
• Clear, positive, professional communication.
• Ability to adapt language and learning without lowering expectations.

• Able to build relationships with children, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

• Support KS1 pupils developing their English language skills.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions.
• Help children build vocabulary, phonics, and early literacy skills.
• Use visual resources, modelling, and structured language support strategies.
• Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities and resources.
• Encourage confidence, independence, and active participation in lessons.
• Create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
