Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd in Blackburn is seeking an enthusiastic EAL Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school on a full-time basis from January 2027.

You will work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to support pupils whose first language is not English, adapt learning resources, deliver small group and 1:1 interventions, and help create an inclusive classroom that boosts confidence and progress.

Qualifications

• Has previous experience working within a primary school setting.
• Experience supporting EAL pupils is desirable.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Is patient, nurturing and adaptable in their approach.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
• Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Providing targeted support for pupils with English as an Additional Language across all key stages.
• Supporting the development of speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
• Working closely with class teachers to adapt learning resources and activities.
• Delivering small group and 1:1 interventions.
• Promoting pupil confidence, engagement and independence.
• Helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all learners.
