Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a KS1 boy with ASD and social, emotional, and behavioural needs in Knottingley, Wakefield. This full-time, term-time role offers rewarding daily impact and close collaboration with teachers and the SENCO.

You will deliver personalised support, monitor progress, assist with learning plans, and use positive behaviour strategies. A Level 2/3 TA qualification and safeguarding awareness are desirable; DBS checks apply.

Formación

• Experience working with children with ASD.
• Experience supporting children who display behaviours that challenge.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach in challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of positive behaviour support and de-escalation.

Responsabilidades

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil to promote engagement and wellbeing.
• Support the implementation of individual learning and behaviour plans.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to help regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour.
• Encourage communication, social interaction, independence and confidence.
• Work with teachers, SENCO, parents/carers and external professionals for consistency.
• Record observations, monitor progress and contribute to review meetings.
• Help create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
