Advance your Career as a Psychological Therapist in Aberdeenshire. This is a full-time Psychological Therapist role in the Aberdeenshire Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service on a Permanent contract. The post is primarily aimed at providing a service for adults with common mild to moderate mental health problems (Tier 2) presenting in Primary Care. The post holder will join a growing team of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Psychological Therapists and Wellbeing Workers based in various locations across Aberdeenshire. The posts are supported by Clinical Supervision and professional management from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist at Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen and will be line managed by Team Leaders within the service.
Work will be a combination of face-to-face sessions within GP surgeries and other Primary Care health facilities, as well as remote appointments, with some work from home using NHS Attend Anywhere. The service is working under the appropriate COVID pandemic regulations at the time of advertising this post.
The role involves assessing and providing psychological therapy for patients with a range of mild to moderate mental health problems including depression and a range of anxiety disorders. Interventions will be in line with best practice as identified by The Matrix and delivered on a 1-1 basis as well as within groups. The Psychological Therapist will work closely with other Psychological Therapists in the team and will provide guidance, support and potentially supervision for Wellbeing Workers. There will also be an expectation to develop strong links with Social Care and Third Sector partners.
The post holder will have high level skills in psychological therapy, having obtained, for example, an MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care or a PG Diploma in CBT (or equivalent, see Person Specification for more details). Post-qualification experience would be desirable but is not essential, providing training has included substantial clinical placement practice. As this post covers a wide geographical area, a driving licence and access to a car are essential.
