Job summary

CPI Books UK is seeking a skilled KM Bindery Operator to operate and maintain bindery equipment in our Melksham facility. You will set up folders, guillotines and binding machines, read job tickets and deliver finished products to spec.

You will monitor performance, supervise Bindery Assistants, perform routine maintenance, ensure safety and 5S standards, and document production records to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a print production or bindery environment preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret production specifications and work orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and adjust bindery equipment including folders, guillotines and binding machines.
  • Read and interpret job tickets, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Inspect printed materials for quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the finishing process.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as required to meet production standards.
  • Prepare elements in advance of the next job to ensure seamless change over between jobs is achieved.
  • Supervise Bindery Assistants.
  • Perform routine planned maintenance and cleaning of bindery equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and report significant mechanical problems to maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure finished products are packaged, labelled, and prepared for despatch according to job bag requirements.
  • Maintain production records and complete required documentation accurately.
  • Follow all health, safety, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment using the 5S approach.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and quality.

Job description

The KM Bindery Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining bindery equipment to produce high-quality finished printed books. This role ensures that all processes are completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

This position involves:

  • Set up, operate, and adjust bindery equipment including folders, guillotines and binding machines
