You will set up, run and maintain Horizon finishing machinery (BQ 500 binder, Saddle Stitcher) and ensure precise binding, trimming and quality checks. The role supports folding, lamination, packaging and labeling while maintaining safety and clean workspaces.

The position offers a 12-hour continental day shift rotation, with immediate start and fast-track interview slots for quick onboarding.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and calibrate Horizon finishing machinery, specifically the BQ 500 Perfect Binder and Horizon Saddle Stitcher
• Read job tickets to ensure accurate collation, glue application, spine quality, stitching, folding, and trimming
• Perform routine adjustments and minor mechanical troubleshooting to maintain output
• Conduct in process quality checks for page sequence accuracy, cover alignment, and final finish quality
• Assist across finishing duties such as folding, guillotining, laminating, packaging, and final labelling
• Keep workspace clean, organized, and aligned with safety protocols

Finishing Department Operator

Location: Uckfield

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Shift Pattern: Rotating Continental Shift, 0600 to 1800

Schedule: Alternating rotation between Thursday to Saturday and Monday to Wednesday

Start Date: Immediate

About The Role

A prominent print production facility in Uckfield is seeking a skilled Finishing Department Operator to manage high specification finishing machinery. This position focuses on setting up, running, and maintaining premium binding equipment to deliver top tier printed products. Rapid interviews and same week inductions are available for a swift start.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and calibrate Horizon finishing machinery, specifically the BQ 500 Perfect Binder and Horizon Saddle Stitcher
• Read job tickets to ensure accurate collation, glue application, spine quality, stitching, folding, and trimming
• Perform routine adjustments and minor mechanical troubleshooting to maintain seamless output and minimise downtime
• Conduct strict in process quality checks, verifying page sequence accuracy, cover alignment, and final finish quality
• Assist across broader finishing duties as needed, including folding, guillotining, laminating, packaging, and final labelling
• Keep workspace clean, organized, and fully aligned with safety protocols

Requirements

• Hands on experience operating print finishing machinery, with strong mechanical aptitude
• Solid grasp of perfect binding and saddle stitching processes
• High attention to detail with the physical ability to handle paper stocks and stand during 12 hour shifts
• Excellent problem solving abilities and accurate record keeping
• Previous experience with Horizon brand equipment or similar machinery is highly desirable
