Job summary

Thomas Franks is recruiting a Kitchen Porter for their Cambridge site. The role focuses on keeping the kitchen hygienic and safe to high standards, while supporting chefs with prep and ensuring equipment is clean and ready for use.

Role is part-time with evening shifts and every 1 in 3 weekends. Core hours are negotiable; candidates will likely work Mon–Fri evenings and some weekend shifts. Benefits include meals on duty and progression opportunities.

• Experience in kitchen environments is preferred.
• Good verbal English and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Assist chefs with food preparation as needed.

Job description

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Cambridge.

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness. This is a part time position of evening shifts and 1 in 3 weekends. Exact number of hours and start time can be negoatiated but we are looking for core hours of (Mon to Fri) 5pm - 8:30pm on non fromal nights and 5pm - 11pm on Formal dinners. Weekend shifts are usually 10am - 2:30pm

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher

We are looking for:

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Organisation Skills.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
