Job summary

Thomas Franks Ltd in Reading is inviting applications for a Kitchen Porter. The role supports the kitchen team, ensuring hygiene and cleanliness to the highest standards within a busy school environment.

The position is full-time (40 hours/week) on a term-time plus contract (45 weeks per year) with 5 days out of 7. Parking is free on-site, and additional benefits apply.

Qualifications

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Good organisational skills and teamwork are required.
• Ability to understand verbal English and follow instructions.
• Reasonable written and reading English required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with pot wash duties and general kitchen cleaning.
• Help chefs with basic food preparation as needed.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen areas.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment and surfaces.
• Operate industrial dishwasher and support other staff during service.

Contract: Full Time , Permanent
Salary: £12,71 per hour
Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private school for both day and boarding pupils in Reading, Berkshire. Catering for 1540 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning breaks and afternoon breaks. There is a considerable amount of hospitality at this location. This is a term-time plus contract working 45 weeks a year. This is a 7-day operation so working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Reading.

You'll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher

We are looking for:

• Kitchen Porter experience is preferred, but not essential.
• Organisation Skills.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable / good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Similar experience of customer and / or food preparation environment is preferred
