Job summary

Thomas Franks in Reading, Berkshire, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to join a busy private school catering team. The role is full-time and permanent, with 40 hours per week over 45 weeks of term-time plus.

You’ll help keep kitchens hygienic, assist chefs with prep, operate an industrial dishwasher, and maintain high cleanliness standards. Benefits include free parking on site and on-site meals.

Qualifications

• Kitchen Porter experience preferred, but not essential.
• Organisation skills.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good understanding and use of verbal English.
• Ability to demonstrate reasonable/good standard of written English and reading skills.
• Experience in customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Chefs with some food prep.
• Keep kitchen hygienic, safe and clean to high standards.
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment.
• Operate industrial dishwasher.
• Support a 7-day operation with a 5-day-out-of-7 pattern.

Contract: Full Time , Permanent
Salary: £12,71 per hour
Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private school for both day and boarding pupils in Reading, Berkshire. Catering for 1540 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning breaks and afternoon breaks. There is a considerable amount of hospitality at this location. This is a term-time plus contract working 45 weeks a year. This is a 7-day operation so working pattern will be 5 days out of 7. Additional benefit to this location is free parking on site.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our established & friendly team at our prestigious location in Reading.

You’ll be playing a big part in keeping the kitchen hygienic, safe, and up to our very high standards of cleanliness.

• Experience of pot wash duties would be an advantage
• Great team player
• Be able to help the Chefs with some food prep
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness at all times
• Clean and maintain all kitchen equipment
• Clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Operate industrial dishwasher
