Job summary

Care Concern Group is seeking a Kitchen Assistant at Moat House Care Home to support the kitchen team in preparing nutritious meals and ensuring high standards of service for residents.

You will assist with food preparation, meal service and cleaning, while maintaining safety and hygiene guidelines to provide a welcoming dining experience in a care environment.

Qualifications

• Previous catering or kitchen experience is essential; care home experience is desirable.
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Knowledge of food preparation, stock control and stock rotation.
• Good understanding of food hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
• Ability to prepare food, support meal service and maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness.
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A reliable, organised and practical approach with good attention to detail.
• A genuine commitment to delivering an excellent dining experience for residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, meal service and baking, while carrying out washing up, cleaning and stock rotation duties to keep the kitchen running efficiently.
• Help receive and store deliveries, ensure kitchen equipment is clean and safe to use, and report any maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation while following Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.

Moat House Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Burbage, near Hinckley, Leicestershire. With award winning sensory gardens, five beautifully designed care suites and exceptional facilities, we provide a welcoming home where residents are encouraged to live life to the fullest.

Kitchen Assistant Contract

• £12.85per hour
• Contracted to 0 hours per week
• Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team in delivering nutritious, varied and well-balanced meals that enhance residents' health and wellbeing. Working closely with the Chef Manager or Chef, you will help ensure meals are prepared, presented and served to a high standard while respecting residents' individual preferences and dietary requirements.

You will assist with food preparation, meal service and baking, while carrying out washing up, cleaning and stock rotation duties to keep the kitchen running efficiently. You will help receive and store deliveries, ensure kitchen equipment is clean and safe to use, and report any maintenance issues promptly.

Working as part of the wider team, you will maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation while following Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures to provide a safe and welcoming dining experience for residents.
