Job summary

St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Sunderland is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. The role is 15 hours per week, term time only plus 3 days, with a fixed term until 31 August 2027.

Salary is Sunderland Scale 2 SCP 3-4, £24,796 - £25,185 per annum (pro rata to roughly £8,445.95 - £8,768.38). DBS checks are mandatory as part of pre-employment; the school is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust and is committed to safeguarding and equal opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS checks are mandatory for all school staff.

Responsibilities

• Observing Health and Safety Regulations as directed by Cook.
• Assisting with basic food preparation and service of meals
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the catering areas including cleaning tables, washing up, brushing and mopping floors
• Assisting with the setting up and dismantling of dining furniture.
• Observing correct portion sizes
• Maintaining attractive food presentation through all services.
• Encouraging children to choose healthy meal options
• Completing temperature record forms
• Completing cleaning schedule checklists
• Reporting any deficiencies, damage or defects to equipment or suppliers to the Cook.

Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 10.30am- 13.30pm

The position we are filling is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and a satisfactory Enhanced DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service is required as part of pre-employment checks.
