Newcastle City Council in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an Assistant Chef for West Jesmond Kitchen. This term-time only role is 25 hours per week at SCP 7-9, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. You will deliver high standards of meal production and service in a busy catering environment.

We value reliability and a positive attitude. A Level 2 Food Safety in Catering is required, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience. Training and career development are supported, with full DBS and uniform provided.

Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.

We have a large team of cleaners, cleaner supervisors, facility supervisors (caretakers), catering assistants, assistant chef’s and chef’s working various hours and shifts in schools and public buildings.

What we are looking for:

We are currently looking for reliable and friendly person with a positive attitude to join our team as an Assistant Chef. It is desirable you have NVQ level 2 or City & Guilds catering qualification however a minimum of 3 years’ experience of working within a catering environment is essential.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a Level 2 in Food Safety in Catering
• Able to deliver high standards of meal production and service
• Is a team player but able to use your own initiative
• Can have good relationships with others
• Is self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines
