Job summary

Advinia Health Care is offering a General Assistant role at the Rutherglen Care Home. You will join a dedicated kitchen team, supporting chefs with meal preparation and helping maintain hygiene and safety in a healthcare setting.

You will interact with residents, staff and visitors, benefiting from career development and training opportunities. The role is 33 hours per week at £12.71 per hour with pension contributions and staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar catering role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP.
• Relevant catering qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and cooking of meals according to policies.
• Serve residents, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintain storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensure all areas and equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
• Ensure kitchen meets hygiene standards and complies with policies.
• Liaise with dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals.

As a General Assistant you will be:

• Assisting catering staff with both the preparation and cooking of meals in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Serving Residents, staff and visitors with food and beverages.
• Maintaining storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Ensuring that all areas, equipment and furniture are cleaned and stored correctly.
• As part of the catering team, ensuring the kitchen and associated areas meet operational hygiene standards and comply with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Liaising with the wider team, including dietitians regarding dietary and planned meals

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Relevant Catering Qualification (Desirable)
• Knowledge of COSHH and HACCP
• Experience of working within similar role.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
