Job summary

Harbour Healthcare invites applications for a Kitchen Assistant role at Barrington Lodge Care Home in Bishop Auckland. This part-time position offers 32 hours per week and pays £12.72 per hour. You will help maintain clean kitchens, assist in meal prep and service, and support residents with warmth and care.

Responsibilities

• Keep kitchen areas clean and hygienic.
• Wash utensils and dishes and store properly.
• Sort, store and distribute ingredients.
• Dispose of rubbish in a safe manner.
• Organise sufficient supply of laundry cloths.
• Clean equipment, floors and other kitchen tools.
• Assist and carry out kitchen duties as required.
• Assist in food preparation and serving when needed.
• Ensure equipment is used safely and maintained.

Key responsibilities:

• Ensuring the food preparation areas are clean and hygienic.
• Washing utensils and dishes and making sure they are stored appropriately.
• Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients.
• Disposing of rubbish.
• Organising sufficient supply of laundry cloths.
• Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen tools or areas.
• Assist and execute various kitchen duties such as ensuring cleaning schedules are adhered to.
• When required, assist in preparation and serving of all meals.
• Ensure equipment supplied is used with care, in accordance with suppliers’ instructions and training.
• Ensure all equipment is in good working order and report any faults immediately.
• Support the delivery and serving of food, if required.
• Understand the specific diets identified as required by Service users and share any dietary concerns with the chef.
• Be clean, hygienic and well presented at all times.
