Job summary

Birdston Care Home in Kirkintilloch, just 15 minutes from Glasgow, is a modern, fully refurbished care home delivering high-quality, person-centred meals to frail-elderly residents. As Kitchen Assistant, you will help prepare meals, maintain a clean, safe environment, and assist with deliveries and stock organisation.

You will work closely with the Chef and wider team to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and safely at all times, in a supportive, well-organised setting.

Qualifications

• Positive and reliable approach to work.
• Good organisation and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Previous kitchen experience is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of high-quality meals in a clean, safe kitchen.
• Assist with food preparation, keep the kitchen clean, and help with deliveries and stock.

We deliver high-quality, person-centred care for frail-elderly residents, including specialist dementia and respite care. • £12.71 per hour
• Contracted to 35 hours per week
• Paid PVG, pension, uniform provided
• 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As Kitchen Assistant, you will support the delivery of high quality meals within a clean, safe and well organised kitchen environment. This is a hands on role where your contribution helps ensure meals are prepared efficiently and to a high standard.

You will support food preparation, maintain cleanliness across the kitchen and assist with deliveries, storage and stock organisation. Working closely with the Chef and wider team, you will help ensure the kitchen runs smoothly and safely at all times.

This role offers a consistent routine and the opportunity to build or develop your experience within a supportive and well organised kitchen environment.
