Job summary

Cygnet Wast Hills is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team. Working 40 hours per week on a 7-day rota (4 x 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm), you will help prepare and serve meals and maintain high hygiene standards.

You will wash utensils, check deliveries, assist with stock ordering and ensure COSHH procedures are followed, while contributing to a welcoming environment for the people we support.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, preferably in a care setting.
• Enthusiastic, keen to learn and an active team member.
• Polite & professional, with a positive attitude at all times.
• An excellent communicator who can liaise with people at all levels.
• Able to work on your own initiative & under supervision.
• Diligent & take pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in providing balanced, appetising meals.
• Perform basic food preparation, cooking tasks & other kitchen duties.
• Wash utensils, dishes & make sure they are stored appropriately.
• Sort, store & distribute ingredients, check deliveries and assist with stock ordering.
• Maintain personal hygiene and ensure the kitchen is clean & hygienic.
• Handle, maintain & store kitchen equipment in accordance with COSHH procedures.
• Use chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.

Cygnet Wast Hills provides dedicated, person-centred support to men with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs in a robust environment. The service has a number of independent and communal living spaces for the individuals we support, to maximise opportunities to progress through their care pathway towards greater independence.

Your Day-to-Day
