Job summary

Guthrie House Care Home in Edinburgh is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team and help deliver high quality meals to residents daily. The role suits someone who enjoys a busy kitchen environment and takes pride in food safety and hygiene.

Working 30 hours per week on day shifts, you will assist with food preparation, storage, deliveries, and maintaining strict cleanliness and hygiene standards. PVG check, pension and uniform provided; 5.6 weeks’ annual leave pro rata.

Qualifications

  • Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is helpful but not essential.
  • Good organisation skills with strong attention to cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Understanding of food safety and health and safety procedures is beneficial.
  • Reliable, hardworking and professional approach with willingness to learn.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a busy kitchen team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation and meal assembly.
  • Support safe storage of ingredients and inventory management.
  • Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen.
  • Handle deliveries and check incoming supplies.

Guthrie House Care Home, located in Edinburgh, provides high quality Residential, Nursing, Dementia, Respite and Palliative Care in a warm and welcoming environment. Set in the peaceful surroundings of South East Edinburgh, the home is known for its compassionate approach, strong community spirit, and dedication to delivering exceptional care.

  • £12.71 per hour
  • Contracted to 30 hours per week
  • Paid PVG, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)
