Job summary

Westgate Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to join our family and support our elderly residents with meals, service, and care. You will ensure meals are prepared and presented to a high standard, and work closely with care staff to meet individual preferences.

The role offers £12.71 per hour with a £0.50 weekend enhancement and 31.5 hours per week across 3-4 shifts. Responsibilities include assisting in kitchen prep, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to COSHH and safety

Qualifications

• Right to live and work in the UK.
• Experience in a care home or similar setting preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Team player with a caring attitude and positive approach.
• Understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and present them to a high standard at the correct temperature.
• Assist in kitchen preparation of meals.
• Work with care staff to accommodate residents' meal preferences.
• Assist in washing crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas per COSHH and safety guidelines.
• Follow health and safety guidelines and carry out reasonable requests from Home Manager or Head Chef.

About the role

About the role:

• £12.71 per hour, plus50p p/h weekend enhancement

• 31.5 hrs per week- working from 8am to 5.30pm 3-4 shifts a week

• Serving meals, ensuring they are presented to a high standard and at the correct temperature

• Support in the Kitchen with the preparation of meals

• Work closely with care staff to accommodate residents’ individual meal preferences

• Assist in washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment

• Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas in accordance with COSHH regulations

• Ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are strictly followed

• Carry out any reasonable request or instruction from the Home Manager or Head Chef

• Accept and process kitchen deliveries, ensuring correct storage and inventory rotation
