Job summary

Westgate Healthcare is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to join our family-run care team. You will serve meals, assist in preparation, manage deliveries, and ensure cleanliness and safety in the kitchen and dining areas.

The role involves collaborating with care staff to accommodate residents’ meal preferences, with weekend shifts and enhanced pay on weekends. We value reliability, teamwork and a positive attitude, and offer induction, training and ongoing development opportunities

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work in a team and have a caring nature.
• Understanding of Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve meals and present them to a high standard at the correct temperature.
• Support in meal preparation in the kitchen.
• Receive and store kitchen deliveries with proper inventory rotation.
• Wash crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment after use.
• Maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas per policy.
• Follow health and safety guidelines at all times and assist care staff with residents' meal preferences.

We are looking for a compassionate and caring Kitchen Assistant to join our family. We are looking for individuals who share our values, have an interest in helping others, a can-do attitude and who will treat the people we support with care, compassion and respect.

About the role

About the role:

• £12.71 per hour, plus50p p/h weekend enhancement
• 32 hrs per week
• Shifts: 8am - 4pm / 10am - 6pm, 4 shifts a week
• Serving meals, ensuring they are presented to a high standard and at the correct temperature
• Support in the Kitchen with the preparation of meals
• Accept and process kitchen deliveries, ensuring correct storage and inventory rotation
• Assist in washing crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment
• Maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas in accordance with COSHH regulations
• Ensuring that all health and safety guidelines are strictly followed
• Work closely with care staff to accommodate residents’ individual meal preferences
• Carry out any reasonable request or instruction from the Home Manager or Head Chef

Required Criteria
