Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for a part-time role in Cheltenham. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals, support stock control, and maintain high kitchen hygiene. The role emphasizes kindness and respectful interactions with residents and colleagues.

Prior kitchen experience is helpful, with a pathway to NVQ2 in Catering. The position offers an opportunity to join HC-One’s caring team, with full training and development supported by the employer.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience in a care environment preferred.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.
• Strong organisational skills, keen eye for detail, and ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Demonstrates patience, respect and genuine kindness with Residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under direction of Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals warmly and promptly to Residents.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers).
• Support stock rotation and proper ingredient storage.
• Train new team members on safety and procedures.
