Job summary

HC-One is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to work in our care homes, delivering nutritious meals and supporting Residents with dietary needs while upholding dignity and respect. You’ll assist with preparation, serve meals with kindness, and help maintain a clean, compliant kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• Safeguarding training is expected or to be undertaken.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under supervision of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene on surfaces and equipment.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures in fridges/freezers.
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Coach new team members on safe use of kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after peak periods.
