Start Date: September 2025 (or earlier if available)
Contract: Maternity Cover | Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

We are excited to be recruiting on behalf of a warm, welcoming, and well-regarded village primary school located in the heart of picturesque rural Hertfordshire - Hitchin. This is a rare opportunity to join a school with a close-knit and supportive community, where staff and families work in partnership to ensure children thrive.

The school has a strong reputation for its inclusive approach, excellent pastoral care, and commitment to both academic and personal development. Pupils are described as enthusiastic, respectful, and engaged learners, and staff are valued for their dedication and team spirit.

The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EYFS or Key Stage 1 Class Teacher to join the team on a full-time maternity contract, commencing in September 2025 (with flexibility for an earlier start if available). This position has arisen due to a planned maternity leave in the Year 1 class, and the school's experienced staff team allows for some flexibility in year group allocation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about early education, inclusive practice, and creating a nurturing learning environment. Experience with a therapeutic or restorative approach to behaviour management would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching tailored to the needs of all learners.
  2. Support the emotional wellbeing and holistic development of every child.
  3. Contribute to the school's inclusive ethos and collaborative team culture.
  4. Demonstrate a proactive approach to professional development and reflective practice.

Ideal Candidate:

  1. An enthusiastic and reliable teacher with a great sense of humour.
  2. Committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
  3. Confident in delivering creative and stimulating lessons that inspire.
  4. A positive team player with strong communication skills.
  5. Able to commute to Hitchin.

What the School Offers:

  1. A supportive and friendly team environment.
  2. Excellent support from experienced teaching and support staff.
  3. A school culture that prioritises wellbeing and work-life balance.
  4. Access to a range of staff wellbeing benefits.
  5. A beautiful, well-resourced learning environment.
  6. Ongoing CPD and career development opportunities.
  7. Highly supportive and engaged parents and carers.

Ofsted (May 2022) described the school as 'Good' and praised its nurturing approach to behaviour, inclusive practices, and the positive relationships between pupils and staff.

If you're ready for a fresh challenge or looking for the next step in your teaching career within a supportive and inspiring setting, we'd love to hear from you.
