Job summary

Data Intellect is a Belfast-based specialist data and technology consultancy focusing on kdb+. We collaborate with leading capital markets institutions to build high-performance systems for trading, risk, and analytics while enabling ongoing learning.

You will work in a hybrid setup, solving complex time-series challenges, mentoring newer developers, and delivering robust client solutions on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on kdb+ development experience.
• Strong knowledge of the q language and time-series data structures.
• Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Capital Markets or Investment Banking exposure is a plus.
• Able to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business users to define new application requirements.

Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborating with business users to define new application requirements.
• Developing, testing, and maintaining clean, performant code for client applications.
• Supporting project delivery alongside Project Managers and senior developers.
• Working as part of a close-knit team to deliver solutions on time and on budget.
• Analysing large-scale time-series data and generating actionable reports.
• Mentoring junior developers and contributing to a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

What You Bring

• 2+ years of hands-on kdb+ development experience.
• Solid understanding of q language and time-series data structures.
• Experience working in Unix/Linux environments.
• Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies and the SDLC.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex systems to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Prior experience of working in Capital Markets/Investment Banking is advantageous but not essential

Bonus Skills (Not Essential)

• Experience in Capital Markets or Investment Banking.
• Knowledge of Python, cloud platforms, or other time-series databases.
• Exposure to project leadership or people management.
