Job summary

Senior Bird Bellows is seeking a Junior Tooling Design Engineer to join our Tooling Engineering team in the UK. The role focuses on designing, developing, and improving tooling, jigs, and fixtures used across manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes.

You will work with experienced engineers to learn CAD software, tooling techniques, and aerospace standards. You will gain exposure to new product introductions and process optimisation while developing your technical skills and contributing

Qualifications

• Good understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience using CAD software and awareness of health and safety requirements.
• NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or Apprenticeship equivalent in engineering.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Junior Tooling Design Engineer to join our Tooling Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop their career, and gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines within our business.

Whether you're currently working in Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Quality, or another technical role, this position offers the chance to build your expertise in tooling design, CAD, problem-solving, and project delivery while working alongside experienced engineers who will support your development.

As a Junior Tooling Design Engineer, you will support the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and associated equipment used throughout our manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes.

Working as part of the Tooling Engineering team, you will contribute to both new product introduction projects and the optimisation of existing manufacturing processes. You will gain hands‑on experience in tooling design while developing a strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards, engineering best practice, and continuous improvement methodologies.

This role offers genuine development opportunities and exposure to cross‑functional working with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Welding Engineering teams.

Qualifications

Experience of working with CAD software and an appreciation of health and safety requirements are essential, along with a recognised engineering qualification at NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or Apprenticeship equivalent.
