Job summary

Senior Bird Bellows in Congleton is seeking a Junior Tooling Design Engineer to join the Tooling Engineering team. You will support tooling, jigs and fixtures design and development, gaining exposure to aerospace manufacturing standards and continuous improvement practices.

You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop CAD skills, understand tooling processes and contribute to both new product introductions and process optimisations within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CAD software and appreciation of health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support design, development and continuous improvement of tooling, jigs, fixtures and related equipment.
• Contribute to new product introduction projects and optimise existing manufacturing processes.

We are looking for a Junior Tooling Design Engineer to join our Tooling Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, develop their career, and gain exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines within our business.

Whether you're currently working in Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Quality, or another technical role, this position offers the chance to build your expertise in tooling design, CAD, problem-solving, and project delivery while working alongside experienced engineers who will support your development.

As a Junior Tooling Design Engineer, you will support the design, development, and continuous improvement of tooling, jigs, fixtures, and associated equipment used throughout our manufacturing, inspection, and testing processes.

Working as part of the Tooling Engineering team, you will contribute to both new product introduction projects and the optimisation of existing manufacturing processes. You will gain hands-on experience in tooling design while developing a strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing standards, engineering best practice, and continuous improvement methodologies.

This role offers genuine development opportunities and exposure to cross-functional working with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Welding Engineering teams.

Qualifications

Experience of working with CAD software and an appreciation of health and safety requirements are essential, along with a recognised engineering qualification at NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or Apprenticeship equivalent.
