Role: Junior Sous Chef

Location: Exeter, Devon

Salary / Rate of pay: £14.10 per hour

The French-inspired bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the hotel also has a bar area which offers light meals and snacks. There are several rooms to cater for C&B, with the capability of catering for up to 150 covers.

What’s involved?

As a Junior Sous Chef, you’ll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You'll work closely with the Head Chef, support and inspire the team with your excellent communication skills, and make sure every dish that leaves the pass is top-notch.

You’ll work with fresh, locally sourced ingredients to craft seasonal French-inspired menus that guests rave about whilst adhering to company standards. With your culinary expertise and leadership skills, you'll help our client to maintain the high standards they’re renowned for.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Head Chef in leading the kitchen team.
  2. Support in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
  3. Ensure all food is prepared to company standards.
  4. Help manage kitchen inventory, ensuring the efficient running of the kitchen.
  5. Uphold excellent hygiene and safety standards.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude with previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a busy hotel or restaurant. You will have a passion for food and a willingness to learn and grow, the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards at all times.
