James Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our Westhill team. The role involves developing, enhancing, and maintaining software across our product range, with exposure to both existing and new systems, under supervision from senior engineers.

The successful candidate will contribute to change management, documentation, testing, and continued process improvement while adhering to safety and quality standards in a regulated engineering environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and best practices.
• Strong fundamentals of object-oriented programming.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain software across products.
• Contribute to software change management and documentation.
• Create and maintain engineering docs and test plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality software.
• Adhere to engineering standards, processes and quality requirements.
• Support testing, debugging, and defect resolution throughout the lifecycle.
• Participate in site visits to customer locations as needed.
