Back To Work is seeking a Junior Smart Technology Technician to join a South Yorkshire manufacturing business investing in smart technologies, automation and Industry 4.0.

You will work with engineers to install, maintain and develop connected devices, IoT and data collection, gaining hands-on experience in automation and digital manufacturing, with structured training and clear progression.

Qualifications

• Interest in technology and digital systems to support smart manufacturing.
• Analytical problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Basic understanding of IT, hardware or networking concepts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of smart devices and connected systems.
• Support automated manufacturing equipment and monitoring technologies.
• Collect, analyse, and report operational data from smart systems.
• Troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
• Contribute to system upgrades, testing, and implementation projects.
• Monitor device performance and identify improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of configurations and maintenance.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and IT teams.
• Help implement new technologies to boost productivity.
• Follow health, safety, and cyber security procedures.
