Job summary

Northampton High School - GDST in Northampton is seeking a permanent, full-time Junior School teacher with a focus on Outdoor Education and Forest School. You will teach a mix of Outdoor Education and general Junior School subjects, and support the school’s pastoral system.

You will work with the Head and SLT to implement GDST policies, upholding the professional standards of Caring, Engaged, Creative and Reflective practice. Experience in Forest School is valued.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with UK QTS and experience in primary or junior school.
• Experience delivering Outdoor Education and Forest School is desirable.

Salary: PL2 FPP SP 11 - 13. £46,788.00 - £49,338.00

What you’ll be doing

You will contribute to providing an excellent education for all the school’s pupils by teaching with expertise and enthusiasm, offering support to the learning of individual students and contributing to the school’s pastoral system. You will support the Head and the SLT in the implementation of all aspects of school and GDST policy in order to maintain the aims and ethos of the school and the GDST as a whole.

Embracing and demonstrating the characteristics set out in the GDST Professional Teacher Standards: to be Caring, Effective, Engaged, Confident, Creative and Reflective practitioners; and demonstrating GDST values and high standards of professional conduct at all times.

The majority of timetabled Outdoor Education teaching will take place within the Junior School, the successful candidate will also teach some older pupils, including at Key Stage 3. The contract itself will, however, be for a Junior School post.

The timetabled Outdoor Education and Forest School provision would equate to approximately half of the successful candidate’s teaching commitment, with the remainder comprising generalist teaching within the Junior School.
