Job summary

RINA is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join its Power Systems consultancy in Manchester. You will contribute to substation design, grid capacity and integration studies, and protection engineering under supervision, growing into a Power Systems specialist.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering graduate (MEng, CEng and/or PhD).
• At least 1 year’s commercial experience as an Electrical Engineer.
• Working knowledge of power systems software such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink.
• Python experience is highly preferable.
• Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving abilities with practical engineering solutions.
• Must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
• Willing to commute or relocate to Manchester.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior Consultants in developing electrical power system designs for utility, industrial, and commercial facilities.
• Prepare engineering calculations including load studies, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop, grounding, and cable ampacity evaluations.
• Create drawings and design packages such as single-line diagrams and equipment layouts.
• Develop and review technical documentation like specifications and study reports.
• Perform power system modelling and analysis using approved software tools.
• Support protection and control design activities including relay settings and functional descriptions.
• Assist with substation and distribution design tasks including equipment sizing and BOM development.
• Participate in site visits and data collection to verify conditions and support design development.
