A leading museum group is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to manage stock levels and provide commercial insights. The role involves analyzing sales data, coaching team members, and ensuring product availability to meet sales targets. Junior Merchandiser
Do you have experience and knowledge of working in a stock management/planning environment, with experience of sales analysis and forecasting? Could you provide commercial analysis of suppliers, ranges, and products to identify risks and opportunities for our retail teams?
The Science Museum Group (SMG) consists of five National museums, each with shops and online stores, with an annual turnover in excess of £5 million. SMG stocks a wide range of product categories including toys, homewares, apparel, and food.
We are now recruiting for a Junior Merchandiser to join on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week, based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working available.
As Junior Merchandiser, your role is to ensure that all sites have relevant and adequately stocked commercial ranges to meet sales plans, while managing inventory within agreed stock targets.
You will analyze and interpret data and reports to provide commercial insights into suppliers, ranges, products, and promotions, proposing recommendations to the team. You will review current trade and historical performance to identify risks and opportunities in future product ranges.
You will manage the Assistant Merchandiser and Merchandise Assistant, coaching and developing them, and ensuring stock delivery aligns with departmental plans. You will maintain awareness of product performance by channel and market, identifying risks and opportunities to maximize profit while minimizing terminal stocks, taking appropriate action with relevant teams.
Joining us, you will have experience and knowledge of working in a stock management/planning environment, with sales analysis and forecasting experience. You should be results-oriented, meeting targets with consideration of commercial objectives.
You will possess strong organizational skills, able to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks with high accuracy. You should be autonomous, proactive, creative in problem-solving, and capable of motivating and encouraging your team. Good communication skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively are essential.
